WE ARE
Seat & social

Our Story
In 2022, owners Caleb and Shanna Couvillon purchased the building with little vision…..they knew they wanted the space to be perfect but for what? As word got out that the couple had bought these historical buildings EVERYONE had an opinion of what it should be. The one suggestion that stood out to them was the need for a larger venue that anyone could enjoy for any occasion and not have to cut “The List”. So now they have the purpose but what about the name?
Marksville, Louisiana is the Government Seat of Avoyelles Parish; hence the “Seat”. Prior to the Couvillon’s purchasing the building, it housed one of the town’s most memorable restaurants, Red River Grill. When the owners of the Red River Grill started renovating for their new restaurant 20 plus years ago, they employed Caleb to help with the remodel not knowing that one day Caleb would be renovating the same building for a new purpose for this town. Caleb’s history with this space goes farther as his father worked as an elected official in the government office across the street from the venue for 20 plus years.
But where did the Social come from…Shanna! Shanna was employed by Bailey’s on the Square, located in the same Marksville Square, for many years while in college. She loved coming home and being a part of the social vibe that Bailey’s on the Square always had. The “Marksville Square” is very near and dear to both Caleb and Shanna’s hearts.

Our Goal
“Our hopes for the Venue is to bring people from all over Louisiana to our community and let them see the hospitality we offer. Not only do we want our clients to have a beautiful venue for their special event, but we also want them to take in all this town has to offer.”
– Caleb and Shanna Couvillon
